Tosoh, which has the top share of the curtain rail market in Japan, introduces UPWARD, a sales support service.

Optimized mobile input for outside sales reps, which has improved the number of information entries by about 60% over the previous year and halved the number of nighttime reports.

(Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Ryusuke Kaneki; hereinafter "UPWARD") is pleased to announce that Tosoh Corporation (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Masato Yaejima; hereinafter "Tosoh") has introduced its sales support service "UPWARD".

Eye-catcher for Tosoh

Tosoh has been manufacturing and selling window-related interior products in Japan since its establishment in 1949, and boasts the top share of the domestic market for its mainstay curtain rails. Tosoh conducts sales activities throughout Japan, mainly to interior design stores, house builders, and interior decoration contractors.

The company introduced sales tools to share sales information, standardize sales, and improve visit efficiency. However, the company was burdened with the task of inputting information on a computer after making outbound sales calls, and the data could not be utilized because the inputting process did not stick and the amount of visits could not be increased.

In response to these issues, the company decided to replace the system with "UPWARD," which is optimized for outside sales and allows intuitive data entry via mobile app. In just two months after its introduction, the number of data entry cases increased by approximately 60% compared to the previous year, and the number of reports after 5:00 p.m. was reduced by half.

Mr. Masato Yaeshima, President and Representative Director, Tosoh Corporation Comments

Since the industry tends to be characterized by the tendency for information to belong to a single person, it is necessary to standardize operations by proactively introducing tools and promoting the centralization of information. In this era of serious labor shortages, we hope that the introduction of UPWARD will lead to further standardization of operations and, ultimately, further improvement of retention rates.

In addition, although our core business is "domestic, residential, and windows," the number of domestic households and construction starts is in steady decline. Therefore, in the mid- to long-term, we would like to expand our business to "overseas, non-residential, and non-window" areas, which is the opposite of our core business. To expand these businesses, we will use "UPWARD" to shape the model case for business efficiency that we are currently working on, and expand it while flexibly updating it.

Mr. Kenshi Sato, General Manager, Sales Planning Office, Tosoh Corporation Comments

When considering the introduction of UPWARD, the most important factor was its simple and easy-to-understand UI. If the tool is not intuitive and easy to use for the sales representatives who will actually use it, they will not be able to use it, and the introduction will be meaningless.

With the introduction of UPWARD, information input by the field has taken root, and it has become easier to grasp the details of sales activities. In the future, we would like to further grow the company by increasing the volume of activities, analyzing the activities, and creating an environment in which salespeople can focus on the activities they are supposed to be doing.

Seminar Information

Tosoh and UPWARD will hold free online seminars on October 7 and 15, 2025 on the theme "Tosoh's challenge of sales digital transformation ".
